Julie Corfe, Stirling.
Julie is a painter & print maker. Her work shows domestic and social history, her life and surroundings of Adelaide and the Hills. She has had many exhibitions since 1980 and has a yearly exhibition at the Aldgate Café with her own work and work done by her students. Julie runs art classes throughout the year from her studio in Stirling.
“I am happiest when I am doing art. I love people and so will often paint them – I love getting a likeness. I also often do art to illustrate a social issue.”
Julie has got to know Terry Hicks (David’s father) through the “fair go for David” cause that she and her husband Oliver are very involved with. Terry agreed to sit for Julie for her entry into the Archibald Prize 2007 (yearly art prize given to the best portrait painting preferentially of some man or woman distinguished in Art, Letters, Science or Politics).
“This is the biggest project I’ve ever done and it’s been terrific.”
