Andrew Thomas, Aldgate Optometrists
Andrew has been an optometrist in Aldgate for 16 years. He also has a practice on the Parade in Norwood. He obtained his masters degree in optometry in Sydney, returning to take up practice in SA.
Andrew thinks the best part of his job is helping people. “I like helping people in a medical sense – monitoring diseases and saving sight. I also like the fact that in private practice I am able to access any tools or tests needed to help someone.”
He enjoys the flexibility of being a small and independent practice.
To switch off during his spare time Andrew gardens and reads. “I find gardening very relaxing. Being a physical activity it helps me switch off mentally. There is no urgency to gardening, I can just potter about at my own pace. In my retirement I will continue gardening but also get back into painting and photography – both things I don’t have time to concentrate on at the moment.”
