Fr. John Vildzius, St Matthew’s Catholic Church, Bridgewater
Father Vildzius has been in the priesthood for 35 years. His current parish extends from Upper Sturt, through the Onkaparinga Valley, past Birdwood and out to Springton. He has been involved with this area for the past eight years.
He loves the broad variety of people in his parish. “I like the village living and celebrating God with my parishioners. I enjoy the mass and sacraments with them and the coming together to share our lives with the same belief. It is special to share their joys and sorrows”.
Father Vildzius feels the focus today tends to be on the problems of the world. “I wish we could concentrate on the good things that are happening around us.”
When he has time away from his parish Father Vildzius is a keen reader of science fiction and is interested in astronomy too. “I also enjoy the occasional game of golf” he says.
