THE SCOUT LEADER
Janet Leitch, Mt Lofty Scout Group

Janet has been a member of Scouts Australia since 1969 and has been group leader of Mt Lofty Scout Group since 1999.

“I really get great pleasure from seeing the young people grow and develop life skills. I have also seen some of our adult volunteers grow personally through being involved with the scouting movement.”

As a trained music teacher, Janet has been involved in numerous community musical events – she was the musical director of the Adelaide Gang Show for three years and she also has been the musical director for the Stirling nativity re-enactment for the past 25 years.

Her scouting experiences have carried through to other parts of her life. In 2005 Janet completed a walk of 1,200km in France and Spain along the Camino de Compostela Pilgrimage route. She travelled on her own initially, but made many friends along the way. “It truly was a wonderful experience for me and I am in the process of making plans to do another part of the route soon.”
